Excursion to Ieper

On 8 May 2010 the Swedish Club, together with the Norwegian Association, is organising a trip to Ieper - the town which was the scene in 1914-1918 for violent fighting and was completely destroyed. More than 150 war cemeteries give evidence of the 500 000 soldiers fallen in battle here.
We will be going by bus to Ieper, where we pick up Raoul, our English speaking guide, to visit the battlefields at Flanders Fields, followed by visits to the war cemeteries Essex Farm, Tyne Cot and Langemark. We will also be visiting the war and trench museum Hill 62. The programme includes a lunch at the restaurant t'Ganzeke in Ieper. After lunch we will visit the interesting museum Flanders Fields. The day finishes with a guided tour through the town's reconstructed centre where everything has been restored to its pre-WWI appearance. We expect to be back in Brussels by 18.
